ADHD Awareness, Screening & Intervention Program in Collaboration with RKM Consultants

Unleashing Potential Through Early Intervention

Udayan Mental Healthcare, in collaboration with RKM Consultants, successfully conducted a community-based ADHD Awareness and Early Identification Drive aimed at supporting children with attention and learning difficulties.
 
The initiative was designed to increase awareness among educators and parents regarding the early signs of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), facilitate timely identification, and provide evidence-based intervention to help children achieve their full potential.

Program Objectives

Increase awareness of ADHD among teachers and educational institutions.

Facilitate early identification of children who may be experiencing attention-related difficulties.

Provide comprehensive psychological assessment and diagnostic support.

Empower parents through psychoeducation and guidance.

Offer structured intervention to improve attention, working memory, and academic functioning.

Program Structure

Phase 1:

Teacher Awareness & Training Educators were trained to recognize early indicators of ADHD & understand the impact of attention difficulties on academic & social functioning.

Phase 2:

Multi-Level Screening Children identified by teachers underwent a structured screening process to determine the need for further evaluation.

Phase 3:

Parent Psychoeducation Awareness sessions were conducted for parents to enhance understanding of ADHD and available management strategies.

Phase 4:

Comprehensive Assessment Children requiring further evaluation underwent detailed psychological assessment, including cognitive and ADHD-specific evaluations.

Phase 5:

Cognitive Intervention Eligible children participated in a structured working memory training program based on internationally recognized Cogmed® protocols.

Phase 6:

Outcome Review and Guidance Post-intervention assessments were conducted, and individualized feedback and recommendations were shared with families..

Impact

The initiative demonstrated the value of early identification and intervention in helping children with ADHD improve their attention, working memory, and overall functioning. By working collaboratively with schools, teachers, and parents, the program contributed to creating supportive educational environments for children facing attention-related challenges

Clinical Leadership

The clinical aspects of the program were led by Dr. Nitin Anandi Lal, PhD, MPhil, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, with expertise in child and adolescent mental health, psychological assessment, ADHD evaluation, and cognitive interventions.
